Each painting is less a depiction and more an excavation-built up, and scraped back, and reworked until something honest begins to surface. Working with palette knives and dense applications of heavy paint, I am drawn to the tension of control and collapse. Vertical striations, fractured planes, and reflective surfaces often appear in my work, suggesting structures that feel both constructed and eroding. And so there is a push and pull between order and entropy, between what is held together, and what inevitably breaks down.
